First elected to state office in 2002, Rich is proud to serve the people of South Dakota as their State Auditor, and is seeking the office of State Treasurer.

Rich graduated from Spearfish High School and later earned his B.S. in Political Science and Business Administration.

Sattgast has served 25 years in both the active and reserve armed forces.  Sattgast’s military career includes service with the Occupation Force in Berlin in the 1980’s, Desert Storm in the 1990’s, and the National Guard and Reserves.

Looking toward the future, one of Rich’s top priorities as State Treasurer is to use his relationships with local governments to form cooperative ventures in government management, reduce duplication of duties and increase efficiency in services by bringing them closer to the citizens of South Dakota.

As State Treasurer, he will continue to work for the people of South Dakota to help make our state government more efficient and reduce costs.
